The Sorrento Way

The Sorrento Cricket Club Code of Conduct shall be considered as an addendum to the Rules of Sorrento Cricket Club.

The Code of Conduct sets out the standards and values to which the Club subscribes. It is the aim of the Club that all members, players and supporters respect and adhere to the Code of Conduct.

The Code of Conduct is fully endorsed by the Club President and Club Committee.

We actively promote positive community participation and ensure all of our players past and present members, supporters, sponsors and families feel welcome at the Club.

HEALTH & WELLBEING

We provide an environment for a lifestyle of health, fitness, enjoyment and support of all our club members in this pursuit.

ACTION

We encourage active participation from all of our club members. Have a go, participate and do your best, both on and off the field.

RESPECT

We embrace a code of conduct that respects the game, its officials, our opponents, our teammates and our Club regardless of the match play situation. Play hard but fair.

KIDS

We are passionate about providing an environment where the children in our community can participate in a healthy, supportive and developmental activity.

SUCCESS

We strive to try our best and continually develop the skills and character of our members.

PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Participate in a positive manner, remembering you are representing our great club.
  • Play by the rules
  • The Harder you work, the harder your team mates work around you. Your team' performance will benefit and so will you.
  • Be punctual, arrive to training, game day and club functions on time, if not communicate to your captain or coach regarding why.
  • Be a good sport . Applaud good performances from your team and accept them from the opposition.
  • Treat all participants in your sport as you would like to be treated. Do not bully or take an unfair advantage of another teammate or competitor.
  • Cooperate with your coach, teammates, opponents and umpires. Without them there would be no competition.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, age, cultural background or religion.
  • Never argue with an official, it undermines our code of conduct, values, and teams' efforts throughout the day. Have your captain approach the official at their next opportunity.
  • Control you temper. Verbal abuse of officials, opponents and teammates is NOT ACCEPTABLE whether it's regarded as banter or not.
  • Have a positive attitude.

PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Remember that the children participate in this sport for their enjoyment not yours.
  • Encourage your children to participate do not force them.
  • Focus on your child's efforts and performance rather than whether they win or lose.
  • Encourage children to play by the rules.
  • Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake.
  • Children learn best by example, so lead from the front - be a good person.
  • Respect official's decisions and teach children to do likewise.
  • Show respect for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators, its a tough job, without them your child couldn't participate.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.

SUPPORTERS CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Remember that players participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
  • Applaud good performance and efforts from players on both sides.
  • Aim to yell out positive comment, steer away from ridiculing.
  • Condemn the use of violence in any form, whether it is by spectators, coaches, officials or players.
  • Show respect to officials and umpires.
  • Do not use foul language, sledge or harass players, coaches or officials.

BREACHES OF CODE OF CONDUCT

This Code of Conduct is written as a guide of conduct at the Sorrento Cricket Club (The Sharks). If coaches, players, or any person disagree with any aspect of this code then this matter should be raised in writing, with the club president so that the matter can be heard and determined in a fair and reasonable matter.

Breaches of this code, depending on circumstances and severity, will be dealt with by the general committee and leadership group depending on where the breach occurs.
